Project partners
This project involves 11 partners in total, which include seven European national Q fever reference laboratories. Seven are full partners, two are subcontracted to the project and two are collaborators.
Royal GD
Royal GD, also known as GD Animal Health, is a prominent organization focused on veterinary diagnostics, research, and animal health services. Based in the Netherlands, it offers a wide range of services including diagnostics, lab services, contract research, and educational programs through the GD Academy. Royal GD is dedicated to enhancing animal health and welfare globally by providing expertise and innovative solutions for disease control and monitoring.
Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI)
The Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) is Germany’s Federal Research Institute for Animal Health. It conducts research on animal diseases, focusing on their detection, prevention, and control. The institute operates high-security laboratories and provides diagnostic services for various animal pathogens. FLI also advises the German government on issues related to animal health and zoonoses, diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans.
Inrae
INRAE, the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment, is dedicated to addressing global challenges related to food security, environmental sustainability, and agricultural innovation. Through interdisciplinary research, INRAE focuses on agroecology, biodiversity, climate change adaptation, bioeconomy, and overall health. The institute collaborates internationally to foster sustainable practices and policy development, aiming to improve the resilience and productivity of agricultural systems.
Anses
ANSES (Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l’alimentation, de l’environnement et du travail) is the French agency responsible for food, environmental, and occupational health safety. It conducts scientific assessments to support public policy, ensuring the health and safety of consumers, workers, and the environment. ANSES evaluates risks, provides research, and develops guidelines on a wide range of topics including food safety, animal health, plant health, and chemical substances.
Sciensano
Sciensano is a Belgian scientific institution dedicated to public health. It integrates expertise in human and animal health to monitor, research, and respond to health threats. The organization conducts research, provides laboratory services, and supports public health policies through data collection and analysis. Sciensano addresses various health topics, including disease monitoring, food safety, environmental health, and vaccine efficacy. It also collaborates with international partners to enhance health security and improve healthcare quality.
Moredun Research Institute
Moredun is a renowned organization committed to promoting livestock health and welfare through research and education. Established by Scottish farmers in 1920, it focuses on addressing the needs of the farming industry. Moredun has developed numerous vaccines, diagnostic tests, and treatment strategies for farm animals globally. The organization also offers resources on livestock health and conducts outreach programs to support the agricultural community.
NEIKER
NEIKER, the Basque Institute for Agricultural Research and Development, focuses on enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of the agro-livestock and forestry sectors through applied scientific research. With over 180 professionals, NEIKER develops innovative solutions in animal, plant, forestry, and environmental research. Their work includes improving livestock health, optimizing agricultural production, and promoting sustainable resource use. They offer a range of services, including analytical testing, and collaborate on numerous projects to advance the sector’s technology and practices.
Animal and Plant Health Agency
The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is an executive agency sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Welsh Government, and the Scottish Government. APHA works to safeguard animal and plant health for the benefit of people, the environment, and the economy. They focus on disease prevention, pest control, and ensuring food safety through scientific research and regulatory enforcement.
DGZ (Animal Health Care Flanders)
DGZ (Dierengezondheidszorg Vlaanderen) supports livestock farmers and veterinarians in monitoring, combating, and preventing animal diseases in Flanders, Belgium. They offer services including animal identification and registration, laboratory testing, and health programs. Their laboratory performs over a million tests annually, supporting both government health programs and direct requests from farmers and veterinarians.
AGES (Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety)
The Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) is dedicated to ensuring health and safety in Austria across various sectors. AGES focuses on public health, food safety, animal health, plant health, and environmental protection. It conducts research, risk assessments, and provides expert advice to safeguard human, animal, and plant health. The agency also plays a crucial role in monitoring and managing public health threats, food security, and environmental safety.
IZSVe (Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie)
The Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe) is an Italian public health institute specializing in animal health, food safety, and zoonoses. Located in Legnaro, Padova, it is part of Italy’s National Health Service. IZSVe conducts control and research activities, provides diagnostic services, and supports both public and private organizations in veterinary and food safety sectors.
